How much does a hair transplant cost in the UK?

Hair transplant prices vary because every surgical plan is different. This guide explains current UK costs, Dr Jamie's Manchester guide prices and the practical questions to ask before comparing quotes.

A hair transplant is individually planned

There is no single standard hair transplant. A smaller hairline case and a larger area of loss require different designs, graft numbers, operating time and team support. Donor density, hair characteristics, previous surgery and the likely pattern of future loss also influence the plan.

That is why a meaningful quote follows a clinical assessment. A headline price without a clear scope can be difficult to compare with another clinic's proposal.

You are paying for time, skill and a clinical team

The work begins before procedure day with assessment, photography and design. During treatment, follicles must be removed, examined, prepared and placed carefully. The process can take most of a day and involves trained support as well as the doctor performing the surgery.

The fee also supports the clinical environment, equipment, governance, medication, written aftercare and planned reviews that sit around the operation itself.

FUE and FUT use donor hair differently

FUE removes follicular units individually with a small punch. FUT removes a narrow strip of hair-bearing scalp which is then divided into grafts. Neither method is automatically better or cheaper for every patient.

Your donor area, hairstyle, treatment history and required coverage help determine which approach may be appropriate. The recommendation should be explained before you decide.

What should a quote include?

Ask what area is being treated, who will perform each part of the procedure, what aftercare is provided and whether planned reviews are included. You should also understand the limitations of the proposed coverage and what may happen if your non-transplanted hair continues to thin.

At The Rejuvenation Doctors, the £50 consultation fee is deducted if treatment proceeds. The surgical price is confirmed after Dr Jamie has assessed your hair loss and donor supply.

Compare care, not just the headline price

A lower quote is not automatically poor and a higher quote is not automatically better. The useful comparison is whether the plan is clinically appropriate, clearly explained and delivered by a suitably qualified team in a regulated setting.

Take enough time to understand the recommendation. A responsible clinic should make it easy to ask questions and should not pressure you into booking surgery quickly.

Frequently asked questions

Clear answers to common questions.

How much does a hair transplant cost in the UK?

The NHS advises that private hair transplant surgery in the UK can cost between £1,000 and £30,000. The final price depends on the extent of hair loss, the technique, the clinic and the clinical team involved.

How much is a hair transplant in Manchester?

At The Rejuvenation Doctors near Manchester, current guide prices start from £4,000 for a smaller hairline case, £5,000 for the hairline and temples, and £6,000 for a crown or larger-area case.

Is FUE more expensive than FUT?

Not automatically. Cost reflects the appropriate technique, treatment area, donor supply, operating time and complexity of the agreed plan. Dr Jamie explains whether FUE or FUT is more suitable before confirming a quote.

Can I get an exact price from photographs?

Photographs can help an initial discussion, but an exact surgical quote needs a clinical assessment of your hair-loss pattern, scalp, donor supply, previous treatment and realistic coverage.

What should a hair transplant quote include?

Ask whether the quote includes the procedure, clinical team, medicines, written aftercare and planned reviews. It should also state the treatment area, technique and limitations of the proposed plan.

Is the consultation fee deducted from treatment?

Yes. The £50 hair consultation fee is deducted when treatment proceeds with The Rejuvenation Doctors.
